Psalm 33:6 (NIV) By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

Life is a very serious journey. While there are moments of happiness and joy, there are also many times of heartache, pain and sorrow. Sometimes the unexpected happens and catches you off guard. Then there are the times that great trouble comes your way and it seems as though you have your back against the wall with no way out. Sometimes, several unmanageable situations arise all at the same time, creating the perfect storm. It's times like these when we must hang on and remember that we are not alone and that God has not abandoned us. But sometimes it's not enough to know that God is with us. We must get to know intimately about His omnipotence.

In theory, everyone will admit that God is almighty and that nothing or no one can come against Him. But theory will not help us when we are in deep trouble. We have to acquaint ourselves with the power of God and then also remember that He is our Heavenly Father. He is not only mighty and strong, but He loves us as a Father loves His children but beyond that because His love is perfect love. Combine that perfect love that He has for you with the perfectness of His unfathomable power, and now you have a lot to trust and lean on in times of great difficulty. Our Father is the same God who, as the verse above says, made the heavens by just speaking them into existence through the power of His word. He spoke into existence all the stars, constellations and galaxies, way beyond what we can even see. As I looked up into the sky a few days ago, I saw a bright star that caught my attention. I have an app on my phone that identifies the stars and I learned that the star that had caught my eye was the planet of Jupiter. Its current distance is 447 million miles away! Yet I can see it shining brightly in the sky. God's creation is awesome! But it is only awesome because our awesome God created all things.

So, the next time trouble comes your way or things start to get really dicey with problems lining up one after another, remember the God that promised to never leave you or forsake you. Remember His unspeakable power while remembering also how much He loves you. He loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you so that you can live forever and would never, ever have to be afraid. He breathed and creation happened. What could you be facing that is too hard for Him to rescue you from? Consider your God and be at peace no matter what things look like. The Lord has everything well in hand.
